Pro Smoker Wins Big at Country's Largest Meat Competition

Pro Smoker proved that its smoked products are second to none at the 83rd Annual Wisconsin Specialty Meats Championship. Held on April 9 as part of the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors Convention, Pro Smoker customers nabbed 60% of the winning entries and over 75% of the Grand Champion titles.

The Wisconsin Meat Product Competition is the largest of its kind in the United States, with meat processing plants and meat markets from throughout the state entering more than 640 products into 38 categories, including summer sausage, bratwurst, ham, bacon, smoked poultry and many other types of meats. The entries are evaluated by over 40 judges ranging from food scientists to out-of-state meat processors, and other food industry professionals and are scored for appearance, eye appeal, aroma and taste.

Of the 190 processors who took home an award,112 were Pro Smoker customers. Of 38 processors who received a Grand Champion title, the highest possible accolade, 29 of them were Pro Smoker customers.

"Wisconsin has a long heritage of meat processing and this competition is one of the most respected in the industry," says John Steger, vice president of Pro Smoker. "Our customers trust us to provide consistent, quality smoked products. The fact that so many of them took home the high honors this year is a testament to us fulfilling our commitment to them."

Pro Smoker is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated business and the only smokehouse manufacturer to have its entire line NSF/ANSI STANDARD 4 and ANSI/UL STANDARD 197 approved and listed. To learn more about the Pro Advantage, contact us here or email us at info@pro-smoker.com
